The 2014 National Senior Indoor Championships took place in the Athlone International Indoor Arena last weekend. Alicia Boylan was the sole representative from the county as she competed in the Women’s 3k Walk.

On her third visit to the Midlands venue this year the Oriel athlete was once again on the podium this time taking the Bronze medal in a time of 15:01.76. Leevale’s Lauren Whelan took the title in 14:22.96 with Sinead Burke of St Coca’s taking Silver in 14:44.85.

Ulster Schools Cross Country
Having come through their respective District qualifiers earlier in the month up on eleven hundred athletes contested the various age groups at the Ulster Schools Cross Country Finals on a cold dry windy day in Mallusk Tuesday last.

As usual all races were very competitive with a few surprises. From a local point of view only Aisling Mc Anespie, Amy Hamill and Darragh Drury qualified for the Nationals in Cork in early March. Aisling took the final qualifying spot as she placed 15th in the Minor…
