MONAGHAN LIONS CLUB RAISE €50,000 AT THEIR MASQUERADE NIGHT IN CASTLE LESLIE ESTATE

On behalf of the members of Monaghan Lions Club I’d like to say a massive thank you for making our 23rd Annual Charter night such a wonderful success. Everyone donned their finery for our masquerade night to enjoy the occasion and raise funds for local charities and community needs.

It was our pleasure to be joined by the District Governor Liam Lyons and his wife Anne, the President of Monaghan Rotary Club Barra Flynn and his partner Joanne, Lions Zone Chairman & President of Carrickmacross Lions Club Paddy Gollogly together with the very many friends and supporters of the club.

The management and staff of Castle Leslie Estate had the Castle and the marquee looking its very finest. It was warm and welcoming and the attention to detail, the meal and the service were all outstanding. Thank you.

None of the Lions work would be possible without the generosity and support of the friends and supporters of the club. In the current climate it’s very important to reiterate that every cent raised goes directly to charity. All members of the club pay an annual subscription and small donation at each meeting to cover all administration expenses for our club. It was our pleasure to present a cheque of €1800 to Liam Lyons, the District Governor of the Lions Clubs of Ireland for the Philippines appeal and to highlight all the good work that has been carried out since the last charter night and during Past President Ann Bowe’s very successful year.

Following the speeches the auction commenced with a very lively Andrew Nesbitt taking the floor as auctioneer. With a very entertaining and vibrant performance he sold twenty items followed by another six being donated towards the end as the auction was going exceptionally well. Needless to say the party continued well into the early hours of morning…

We’re absolutely delighted that the night was such a huge success and can assure you as always that the funds raised will be used very wisely. Thanks again to everyone who donated raffle & auction items and spot prizes, to all the bidders and purchasers of the auction items and to each and every one of you for supporting our club on the night and throughout the year.
With sincerest thanks
Fern Ross
