MONAGHAN TOWN AMENITY – SECOND STRETCH OF GREENWAY OPENED AT ULSTER CANAL

MONAGHAN County Council and Monaghan Town Council have reported the second section of the Ulster Canal Greenway through Monaghan town has been opened to pedestrians and cyclists.

Section 2 runs from the Threemilehouse Road all the way to Horseshoe Bridge, behind the swimming pool.

The section also runs through Tom Young’s Wood, where a biodiversity trail has been recently constructed.

Work on the final section, which will link the two ends up is under way this month and should be completed by the end of March.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Meanwhile the County Council has issued a public safety notice relating to the prohibition of the Greenway being used at present by equestrians.

The Council states it has not been designed to accommodate horse traffic at present as it is not sufficiently wide and the surface is unsuitable. It is pointed out that public liability insurance may not …
