MAYOR CONLON PROTESTS OVER “RIP-OFF” IN PRICE OF MEDICATION

“The people of Ireland are being ripped off by the pharmaceutical sector and the Dept of Health are entirely complicit,” declared Monaghan Co Mayor Sean Conlon when moving a motion at the October meeting of Monaghan Co Council which protested at the high cost of prescription medication in this country and called on Minister for Health Dr James Reilly to act to bring down the cost of generic drugs.

Mayor Conlon was there was a volume of evidence to substantiate his assertions.

Mayor Conlon’s motion read: “That Monaghan Co Council calls on Minister for Health James Reilly TD to take a more robust approach in tackling corporate malfeasance within the pharmaceutical sector that results in Ireland continuing to be one of the most expensive countries …
