Leslie Crawford, former Captains prize winner in Rossmore Golf Club, was presented with a medal by Dave Brady Chairman of the 100 marathon club of Ireland, to acknowledge the completion of his 50th Marathon.

The presentation took place after the Longford Marathon on Sunday the 25th August in which Leslie finished comfortably, in a very respectable 3hrs and 46 minutes.

The presentation was attended by other members of the club including Collette O’Hagan from Dundalk who is Ireland’s most prolific marathon runner having completed 231 marathons to date. Dave Brady is the most prolific male runner wth 313 marathons successfully completed.

Both posed for photos at which Collete offered Leslie knitting needles and several balls of wool in case Leslie decides to hang up his runners and follow an easier route in future.

Leslie, who only took up running 6 years ago, is not hanging up his runners just yet and has entered the Craughwswell marathon in September. In November he hopes to compete in one of the worlds biggest marathons, Istanbul. He has however, not ruled out the possibility of returning to golf but says, “it won’t be tomorrow”!
