Three Castleblayney sisters have completed another remarkable achievement in the highly competitive sphere of line dancing.

Sinead, Emma and Karina Courtney – daughters of Peter and Bridgie Courtney of Coravoo, Castleblayney – were once again crowned world line dancing champions in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool recently.
The sisters competed in three different categories over the weekend.

Sinead, aged 14, took second place in the Intermediate Teen event, while 13-year-old Emma claimed first place at Intermediate Junior level.

Karina (9), who was participating in the world event for the first time, took first place in the Primary Novice category.

Sinead and Emma together claimed a hat trick of first places, coming out on top in the Duo, Partner and Club divisions.

The amazing achievement by the ‘Blayney sisters was grounded on detailed preparation and hard work over the preceding year.

The girls, who dance for the Struttin’ Stars club in Lisnaskea, this week expressed thanks to Marie and Fred for all their help; their parents for their support and encouragement, and all who helped them in their fund-raising activities.
