FEARS GROW FOR FUTURE OF CARRICK PLANT

FEARS were expressed at the weekend for the future of some forty nine jobs involving employees from the South Monaghan area, and the wider Meath/Cavan hinterland, at the Sonoco Plastics’ plant at Kingscourt Road, near Carrickmacross.

The fears for the future of the industry arose after management announced plans to engage in discussions with the workers regarding the possibility of a shutdown of the plant within a six- month period.
