A MAJOR social enterprise drive is being spearheaded throughout Co. Monaghan—to boost much needed job creation.

THE drive is being extended to all areas of the county and it is being led off by the creation of a Social Enterprise Network, which will explore the potential for the generation of extra employment in the different areas.

Social enterprise is being seen by the EU as a major tool for the creation of additional jobs and as a positive avenue for greater community development, thus offering considerable economic advantage .

The drive is being spearheaded by Monaghan Integrated Development Limited, which has its base at Monaghan Road, Castleblayney.

The general public are now being invited by the group’s Small Business Support Administrator, Ms. Patricia Arthurs, to explore further social enterprise activity through the establishment of an active Social Enterprise Network in Co. Monaghan.

This will involve participation by people from all areas within the county aimed at targeting greater job creation and it offers exciting prospects for a new approach, and a fresh incentive, through social action.

An important public meeting is being held at Castleblayney Enterprise Centre, Dublin Road, Blayney, on Tuesday 9th July next, at which the public can hear how much an existing social enterprise can benefit from joining a Social Enterprise Network.
