MONAGHAN COUNTY COUNCIL AND TOWN COUNCIL ADJOURN ANNUAL MEETINGS FOLLOWING SUDDEN DEATH OF MEMBER’S SISTER

The Annual Meetings of both Monaghan Co Council and Monaghan Town Council were adjourned on Monday as a mark of respect to Fianna Fáil member of both authorities Robbie Gallagher, whose sister Mary Gallagher passed away suddenly in Letterkenny, Co Donegal on Saturday last.

The members of both authorities convened briefly to pass sympathy votes with Colr Gallagher on his loss before adjourning business for one week.

Both meetings also passed votes of sympathy with Acting Co Manager and Monaghan Town Manager David Fallon on the death of his aunt.

Co Mayor Hugh McElvaney opened Monday morning’s meeting of the Co Council by proposing that the meeting be adjourned for one week as a mark of respect for Colr Gallagher.

Formally extending sympathy to the Gallagher family on behalf of the Fianna Fáil grouping on the Council, Pádraig McNally said that on Saturday Robbie’s sister Mary died at her home in Letterkenny. Robbie belonged to a family of three brothers and two sisters, and his second sister had also passed away at a very young age ten years ago.
