LOCAL WOMAN SWIMS FOR ST MARY’S N.S

A Glaslough woman is set to swim 50 lengths of a pool this weekend as a fundraiser for the school her children attend.

What makes Lorraine Colleran’s altruistic gesture even more impressive is that she is paralysed from the chest down following a horse-riding accident three years ago.

Lorraine’s three children Darcy, Harvey and Honor attend St Mary’s National School in Glaslough which is currently fundraising for a carpark and roundabout to be put in place at the school.

As part of the fundraiser five local people are in the running to be crowned Lord Mayor of Glaslough and Lorraine’s swim is supporting Paudge Colleran’s efforts.

The swim will take place in the Hillgrove Hotel’s Living Well Leisure Club this Saturday, 8th June at 12 noon. The  Hillgrove has equipment available that will assist Lorraine in the water and she has been swimming there since her accident. In preparation for her swim Lorraine has been taking yoga classes with Patricia Drum.
