PAPAL NUNCIO ACCORDED CIVIC HONOURS IN CASTLEBLAYNEY

MAYOR of Castleblayney Colr Aidan Campbell, who was joined by the Mayor of Co Monaghan, Colr Hugh McElvaney and members and officials of Monaghan Co Council and Castleblayney Town Council as well as local Church representatives extended a warm welcome to the Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Charles Brown, at a civic reception in Castleblayney on Tuesday.
The reception was hosted by Monaghan Co Council and Castleblayney Town Council.
In his address, Mayor Campbell said that in an historic week when His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI retired from Office, the first Pope to do so for almost 600 years, it was a great honour for them all to welcome to Castleblayney, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Charles Brown.
