The great and the good associated with Monaghan GAA will be present at the
Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan town on Saturday night, January 19th next for what should prove to be another star-spangled Annual Awards night sponsored by the Northern Standard.
The night will showcase the array of Gaelic games talent who plied their skills in county Monaghan during 2012.
“It has been very successful over the past few years and we’re hoping that this year’s event will be no different,” opined Seamus McElwaine, chairman of the county board sub-committee charged with organising the event.
“It has grown into being a major social event in the Monaghan GAA calendar with players from all the codes plus referees and officials being honoured for their achievements over the past 12 months.
“It’s a great opportunity for a get together of everyone involved at grass roots level and we’re confident that there’ll be a big turnout as usual.”
Former Offaly hurler and latter day RTE pundit Michael Guignan will be the guest of honour on Saturday week.
Among those set to be honoured on the night are Killanny native Seamus Dooley of the Monaghan GAA Association in New York and Hall of Fame inductees Eamonn Tavey (Castleblayney) and Sean McCrudden (Scotstown) plus Club of the Year (Castleblayney H.C) and the 2012 Monaghan county minor hurlers who scooped both Ulster league and championship titles.
Tickets for the Awards Night can be obtained from the clubs of the county plus County Board Asst. Secretary Anita Finnegan (086-6679440).
