PROPERTY TAX TO THE FORE AS TOUGH BUDGET UNVEILED

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan announced the introduction of the much anticipated property tax when he unveiled a string of tough measures in the national Budget for 2013 in the Dåil yesterday.
The property tax will be levied at a graduated scale from 0.18% to 0.25% depending on the value of the property. Properties worth €1 million will be liable to 0.18% on the first million and 0.25% after that.
The average householder will pay €300-€500 a year, according to most estimates.
