A Threemilehouse man has made a name for himself in New York by establishing his own tailoring business.
Rory Duffy, who hails from Kiltubrid, Threemilehouse and is son of Gerard and Mary, is an award-winning Savile Row tailor and has established Rory Duffy, Handcraft Tailor in the Big Apple.
In the tradition of Savile Row 30-year-old Rory makes elegant and stylish clothes for gentlemen, following a long family tradition that goes back five generations.
His late grandfather Patrick McCabe from Newbliss who passed away in 1989 was, like Rory, a master tailor as was his father before him and his father before that. Patrick’s uncles were tailors and emigrated to Australia at the turn of the last century.
Rory underlined his talent by winning the coveted 2009 Golden Shears award for apprentices and tailoring students.
Working for the world-famous Savile Row tailor Henry Poole, the young Irishman proved his technical prowess by beating 25 other finalists in a professional catwalk event judged by …
