FIRE RAZES MID-MONAGHAN SPORTS COMPLEX

A rural sports centre at Lismagunshion, near Annyalla was completely destroyed by fire early yesterday (Wed) morning, causing damage estimated in excess of several hundred thousand euro.
The Lakelands’ centre, close to Cremartin, was discovered ablaze by local residents.
Fire units from Castleblayney and Monaghan town were rushed to the scene but were unable to save the complex.
Gardai said yesterday that while investigations into the cause of the fire were ongoing, the possibility of arson was “not immediately ruled out”.
