MONAGHAN LADIES PAINT THE TOWN PINK!

The centre of Monaghan town came to a colourful standstill on Saturday afternoon when the Monaghan Pink Ladies took part in a Flash Mob to warm the crowd up before going on a charity walk around town.
The newly formed group had decorated the Plaza area in the Diamond in Monaghan outside the Westenra Arms Hotel and were taking registrations and donations for their walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer campaign when they suddenly started doing a Zumba routine to Olly Murs! They were joined by a local Zumba group and led by local teenager Lauren Kilmurry through their moves before performing a few more dances.
A large group of men, women, children and dogs then took off around the town on their walk to show that Monaghan cares about Breast Cancer before returning to the Plaza for another display of Zumba.
Monaghan Pink Ladies would like to thank everyone who took part in the day and helped us to raise much needed funds. They would also like to thank Frank McEnaney and his staff in the Westenra Arms Hotel for all their help, Ian from Centra @Topaz for raising over €300 from the sale of umbrellas, hats and gloves, Michelle from Toska Disco’s for providing the music, Monaghan town Council especially Dan for coming to our rescue along with Seamus Treanor and Tommy Hagan. Thank you also to County Mayor Hughie McElvaney for showing his support on the day.
A thank you must go to Glaslough Harriers and the Jolly Joggers for supplying stewards for the event and the Gardai for helping to police the route. Also thank you and well done to all the shops who decorated their windows for the day including Rock’s of Park Street, JP Flowers, Hand Footwear, Wards Chemist and Wilsons on Market Street, KoKo on Glaslough Street and House of Labels and INKA.
Also thanks to Monaghan United F.C. for the use of their Clubhouse while the Pink Ladies were in training for last Saturday’s event.
The biggest thank you must go to Lauren Kilmurry and the ladies from Charlene’s Zumba group who helped the Pink Ladies put the highlight of the event together.
Monaghan Pink Ladies will be running more events in the future and would like more women to come on board. Like us on Facebook or follow us on twitter @pinkladies_
