IPPN PRESIDENT OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES MONAGHAN EDUCATION CENTRE’S EMBRACING SHARED COMMUNITIES PROJECT

On Wednesday 3rd October 2012, Gerry Murphy, President of the Irish Primary Principals’ Network officially launched Monaghan Education Centre’s “Embracing Shared Communities Project”. This project is part financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund through the PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
Gerry has worked in schools serving disadvantaged communities his entire working career, both in Ballyfermot in Dublin and St Joseph’s NS, Dundalk. He was the IPPN executive member with responsibility for developing cross-border relationships with fellow school leaders in the north of Ireland. As IPPN President Gerry was heard on National media to voice concern around the 2012 Budget implications for DEIS and Small schools. More recently he was one of a team of school and community leaders in Dundalk to bring the Incredible Years Suite of Programmes to children, parents and whole school communities. Gerry Murphy is a strong advocate for the real and meaningful involvement of parents in the learning process for their children.
