Gardai investigating the fatal hit and run incident at Lemgare Clontibret on 26th June 2011, in which a young man from the locality lost his life, are making a further appeal for the public’s assistance.
The collision occurred on a minor road between Drumnart and Lemgare, Clontibret, Co Monaghan in the early hours of the morning.
Fintan Traynor, aged 20 years, of Lemgare, Clontibret was fatally injured when he was struck by a car.
Pointing out that it is now 12 months since this fatality, gardai say they believe Mr Traynor was struck by an Audi A4. The investigating officers are calling on the driver of this vehicle to come forward.
Gardai are also appealing to the owners of garages or repair workshops who may have been asked to carry out repairs on an Audi A4 to contact them.
The road where the collision took place is not widely used, and gardai believe that there may be people locally who might still have valuable information but have not yet come forward.
They would particularly like to speak with anyone who used the road between 2am and 7.30am on the morning of Sunday 26th June 2011. Any information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
