Monaghan participants experienced much success in the Ironman 70.3 series, which took place in Salthill, Galway this past Sunday.
This multi-discipline event began with a 1.9km swim in Galway Bay, before moving on to a 90km cycle and finishing with a 21.1km run. 2,500 entrants were competing in Galway, and races are also taking place in various countries worldwide.
Karl & David Kildea from Tydavnet and Dessie Duffy from Cootehill all qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Las Vegas next September. Eimear O’Brien from Ballybay also won in her own age group.
These participants are part of Muckno Tri, a triathlon club based in Monaghan.
