THE 2011 Monaghan Rose who was crowned last weekend has vowed to do her best to represent the county.
Caoimhe Daly from Truagh was one of 15 entrants in the competition who battled it out in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan last Saturday night to scoop the coveted title.
Speaking to the Northern Standard, the 24-year-old who is daughter of Eamon and Leontia Daly described her win as “a complete shock” but said she was delighted to have the opportunity to represent Co Monaghan. “I entered the competition for the experience so to actually win it was just the icing on the cake.”
The new Monaghan Rose who was sponsored by the Westenra Arms Hotel proves she is not just a pretty face as she is a final year medical student in NUI Galway.
On Saturday last the Rose hopefuls had a jam-packed day of interviews and rehearsals followed by dinner. The judging process to choose the winning Rose includes an individual interview, group interview, stage interview and a form of continuous assessment which saw the girls being accompanied by the judges on their county tour and also at the dog races at Dundalk stadium.
