Boxing came back to Smithboro with a bang with 16 competitive bouts and nine exhibitions in the Skule Inn Smithboro. It had been fifteen years since the village had last hosted a tournament with the last one been held In 1996. The home fans of up to 250 surly got theIR monies worth witnessing boxing at its very best at novice and advanced level. The night got of to aN early start with a series of exhibitions from the beginners of the Smithboro club.
On the night, music was supplied by Daniel Sweeney and Ollie Treanor of Pro Djs which added to the excitement of the bouts. Compare at the event was Kenny Gray. On the corners for Smithboro ABC were Fergal McKenna, Fergal Treanor and Kieran Brennan. The action kicked off at 7.30 with a bunch of young local boxers making their debut.
